Pyrrhocoridae
Pyrrhocoridae est une famille d'insectes avec plus de 300 espèces dans le monde entier. L'un est de couleur rouge et sont connus comme des insectes rouges et certaines espèces s'appellent des colorants de coton parce que leurs activités d'alimentation laissent une coloration jaune indescible sur les cultures de coton. Une espèce commune dans certaines parties de l'Europe est la barbarie, et son nom de genre Pyrrhocoris et son nom de famille sont dérivés des racines grecques pour le feu "pyrrho-" et bug "coris". Les membres de cette famille peuvent être rapidement séparés des Lygaeidae par le manque d'ocelli. La membrane de l'aile antérieure a une ou deux cellules d'où apparaissent environ 7-8 veines de ramification qui peuvent avoir des branches qui fusionnent ensemble tandis que les veines principales atteignent les marges de l'aile. Ils ont trois segments tarsiens. On peut confondre avec certains membres de la famille Largidae qui partagent également certains de ces personnages et appartiennent à la même superfamille. Largidae ont tendance à avoir le bord du pronotum arrondi, mais la caractéristique taxonomique pour les séparer se trouve uniquement chez les femelles. Les femelles larges ont le sixième segment abdominale visible qui semble être divisé au milieu alors que les pyrrhocorides femelles ont ce caractère indivisible.
