Le bénéfice avant intérêts, impôts, amortissement et amortissement d'une société est calculé en considérant le bénéfice d'une société avant que les paiements d'intérêts, les impôts, les amortissements et les amortissements ne soient soustraits à la comptabilité finale de ses revenus et dépenses. L'EBITDA d'une entreprise donne une indication de sa rentabilité opérationnelle actuelle, c'est-à-dire de la rentabilité qu'elle réalise avec ses actifs actuels et ses activités sur les produits qu'elle produit et vend. Bien que l'EBITDA ne soit pas une mesure financière reconnue dans les principes comptables généralement reconnus, elle est largement utilisée lors de l'évaluation du rendement des entreprises. Il est destiné à permettre une comparaison de la rentabilité entre différentes entreprises, en annulant les effets des paiements d'intérêts de différentes formes de financement, de juridictions politiques, de collections d'actifs et de différents historiques de reprise. L'EBITDA est une mesure financière des flux de trésorerie provenant d'opérations largement utilisées dans les fusions et acquisitions de petites entreprises et entreprises sur le marché intermédiaire.
