Ecclésiologie
L'ecclésiologie se réfère généralement à l'étude théologique de l'Église chrétienne. Le terme était un néologisme anglais de la fin des années 1830 et, en quelques années, il a été défini comme la science du bâtiment et de la décoration des édifices de l'église; Il peut encore être utilisé dans ce sens. Dans son sens théologique, l'ecclésiologie traite des origines du christianisme, de sa relation avec Jésus, de son rôle dans le salut, de sa politique, de sa discipline, de sa destinée et de son leadership. Puisque différentes ecclésiologies donnent forme à des institutions très différentes, le mot peut également se référer à un caractère particulier d'église ou de dénomination, auto-décrit ou autrement - par conséquent des phrases telles que l'ecclésiologie catholique romaine, l'ecclésiologie luthérienne et l'ecclésiologie œcuménique.
