Falkirk
Falkirk est une ville située dans les basses terres centrales d'Écosse. Il se trouve dans la vallée de la Forte, à peu près à mi-chemin entre les deux villes les plus peuplées d'Écosse; 23,3 milles au nord-ouest d'Édimbourg et à 20,5 milles au nord-est de Glasgow. Falkirk avait une population résidante de 32 422 au recensement de 2001. La population de la ville était passée à 34 570 selon une estimation de 2008, ce qui en fait le 20e établissement le plus peuplé d'Écosse. Falkirk est la ville principale et le centre administratif de la région du conseil de Falkirk, qui compte une population totale de 156 800 habitants et abrite les villes voisines de Grangemouth, Bo'ness, Denny, Larbert et Stenhousemuir. La ville se trouve à la jonction du canal Forth et Clyde et du Canal Union, un lieu qui s'est révélé la clé de la croissance de Falkirk en tant que centre de l'industrie lourde pendant la révolution industrielle.
