La paruline de jardin est un petit oiseau commun et répandu qui se reproduit dans la plus grande partie de l'Europe et dans l'Asie occidentale. C'est une simple paresseuse à la tête longue à ailes longues et à queue longue avec des parties supérieures marron et des parties inférieures blanches ternes; Les sexes sont similaires et les juvéniles ressemblent aux adultes. Ses deux sous-espèces ne diffèrent que légèrement et se multiplient lorsque leurs gammes se chevauchent. En raison de son manque de caractéristiques distinctives, cette espèce peut être confondue avec un certain nombre d'autres parchemins non rayés. La richesse de la chanson mélodique du jardin est semblable à celle du blackcap, son parent le plus proche, qui rivalise avec le territoire lorsqu'il se niche dans la même forêt. L'habitat de reproduction préféré en Eurasie est une forêt ouverte avec une faible couverture dense pour la nidification; Malgré son nom, les jardins sont rarement occupés par ce petit passereau. L'embrayage de quatre ou cinq crèmes blanches ou blancs est posé dans un nid robuste en forme de coupe, construit près du sol et dissimulé par une végétation dense. Les œufs sont incubés pendant 11 à 12 jours. Les poussins sont altricial, éclos nus et les yeux fermés, et sont nourris par les deux parents. Ils survivent environ 10 jours après l'éclosion.
