Individualisme
L'individualisme est la position morale, la philosophie politique, l'idéologie ou la perspective sociale qui met l'accent sur la valeur morale de l'individu. Les individualistes favorisent l'exercice de leurs objectifs et leurs désirs et apprécient ainsi l'indépendance et l'autosuffisance et préconisent que les intérêts de l'individu soient prioritaires sur l'État ou un groupe social, tout en s'opposant à une ingérence externe sur ses propres intérêts par la société ou des institutions telles que gouvernement. L'individualisme fait en sorte que l'individu se concentre et commence ainsi «avec le principe fondamental selon lequel l'individu humain est d'une importance primordiale dans la lutte pour la libération». Le libéralisme, l'existentialisme et l'anarchisme sont des exemples de mouvements qui considèrent l'individu humain comme une unité centrale d'analyse. L'individualisme implique donc «le droit de l'individu à la liberté et à la réalisation de soi». Il a également été utilisé comme un terme dénotant "La qualité d'être un individu, l'individualité" liée à posséder "Une caractéristique individuelle, une quirk.
