Émile Jaques-Dalcroze
Émile Jaques-Dalcroze était un compositeur suisse, musicien et éducateur de musique qui a développé eurhythmics, une méthode d'apprentissage et d'expérience de la musique par le mouvement. La méthode Dalcroze consiste à enseigner des concepts musicaux à travers le mouvement. Une variété d'analogues de mouvement est utilisé pour les concepts musicaux, pour développer une sensation naturelle et intégrée pour l'expression musicale. Le fait de transformer le corps en un instrument de musique bien adapté, pensait Dalcroze, était le meilleur chemin pour générer une base musicale solide et dynamique. La méthode Dalcroze se compose de trois éléments tout aussi importants: eurhythmics, solfège et improvisation. Ensemble, selon Dalcroze, ils constituent la formation musicale essentielle d'un musicien complet. Dans une approche idéale, les éléments de chaque sujet se fusionnent, ce qui se traduit par une approche de l'enseignement enracinée dans la créativité et le mouvement. Dalcroze a commencé sa carrière de pédagogue au Conservatoire de Genève en 1892, où il a enseigné l'harmonie et le solfège. C'est dans ses cours de solfège qu'il a commencé à tester plusieurs de ses idées pédagogiques influentes et révolutionnaires. Entre 1903 et 1910, Dalcroze a commencé à donner des présentations publiques de sa méthode.
