Korat
Les Korats sont une race de chat domestique aux cheveux courts bleu-gris d'ardoises avec un petit à moyen de construction et un faible pourcentage de graisse corporelle. Leurs corps sont semi-cobby, et étonnamment lourds pour leur taille. Ils sont des chats intelligents, ludiques et actifs et forment des liens forts avec les gens. Parmi les caractéristiques distinctives de Korats figurent leurs têtes en forme de coeur et de grands yeux verts. Ils sont l'une des quelques races où les individus n'ont qu'une seule couleur. Le Korat est une race naturelle et l'une des plus anciennes races de chat stable. Originaire de Thaïlande, il est nommé d'après la province de Nakhon Ratchasima. En Thaïlande, la race est connue sous le nom de Si-Sawat, qui signifie «couleur de la graine de scie». Ils sont connus colloquialement comme le «chat de bonne chance» et sont donnés par paires à des jeunes mariés ou à des gens très estimés, pour de la bonne chance. Jusqu'à récemment, les Korats n'étaient pas vendus, mais seulement donnés en cadeaux. Les Korats modernes existent maintenant en raison des efforts diligents de quelques éleveurs à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur de la Thaïlande. La première allusion probante à la race est dans le Thai Tamra Maew, rédigé entre 1350 et 1767 après JC et maintenant dans la bibliothèque nationale à Bangkok.
