Mannheim (Allemand: Manne) est une ville de la partie sud-ouest de l'Allemagne, la troisième plus grande de l'Etat allemand du Bade-Wurtemberg après Stuttgart et Karlsruhe. Mannheim fait partie des vingt plus grandes villes d'Allemagne avec une population d'environ 295 000 habitants en 2012. La ville est au centre de la plus grande région métropolitaine du Rhin-Neckar, densément peuplée, qui compte une population de 2 400 000 habitants et est la huitième région métropolitaine d'Allemagne. Mannheim est situé à la confluence du Rhin et du Neckar dans le coin nord-ouest du Bade-Wurtemberg. Le Rhin sépare Mannheim de la ville de Ludwigshafen, juste à l'ouest de celui-ci en Rhénanie-Palatinat, et la frontière du Bade-Wurtemberg avec Hesse est juste au nord. Mannheim est en aval le Neckar de la ville de Heidelberg. Mannheim est inhabituel parmi les villes allemandes dans la mesure où ses rues et avenues sont disposées dans un cadre de grille, conduisant à son surnom "die Quadratestadt" ("la ville des carrés").
