Dans les arts dramatiques, la méthode d'action est un groupe de techniques que les acteurs utilisent pour créer en eux-mêmes les pensées et les sentiments de leurs personnages, afin de développer des performances réalistes. Bien que tous les acteurs de la méthode n'utilisent pas la même approche, la «Méthode» se réfère à la méthode d'enseignement du métier d'acteur, qui a été créée par Constantin Stanislavski afin d'enseigner des concepts d'action à ses étudiants. Plus tard, la méthode d'enseignement de Stanislavski a été adaptée par Lee Strasberg pour les acteurs américains. La méthode de Strasberg met l'accent sur la pratique de la connexion à un personnage en s'appuyant sur les émotions et les souvenirs personnels, aidé par un ensemble d'exercices et de pratiques, y compris le souvenir des sens et la mémoire affective. I'm not into that method acting thing. I just turn up, say my lines and go home.
