Mawlawi (titre islamique)
Mawlawi est un titre religieux islamique honorifique donné aux érudits religieux musulmans sunnites ou Ulema précédant leurs noms, semblable aux titres Maulana, Mullah ou Shaykh. Mawlawi signifie généralement un savant islamique hautement qualifié. Habituellement, un Maulvi aurait terminé des études complètes dans une madrassa ou Darul Uloom. Il est couramment utilisé dans tout le pays persan, y compris l'Iran, l'Afghanistan, l'Asie centrale, l'Asie du Sud, l'Asie du Sud-Est et l'Afrique de l'Est. Le mot Mawlawi / Maulvi dérive du mot arabe «Mawla», qui signifie «maître» ou «seigneur». Fraternité Mawlawi turque de Soufis fondée à Konya, en Anatolie, par le poète soufien persan Jalal ad-Din ar-Rumi, dont le nom populaire Mawlana a donné l'ordre à son nom. L'ordre, propagé dans toute l'Anatolie, a contrôlé Konya et les environs au 15ème siècle et au 17ème siècle est apparu à Istanbul.
