Glande parotide
La glande parotide est une glande salivaire majeure chez les humains. C'est une structure bilatérale, et la plus grande des glandes salivaires. Il est enroulé autour du ramus mandibulaire et sécrète la salive à travers le conduit de Stensen dans la cavité buccale, pour faciliter la mastication et l'ingestion et commencer la digestion des amidons. Le mot «parotide» signifie littéralement autour de l'oreille.
