Phillipsite
Phillipsite est une série minérale du groupe zéolite; Un hydraté de potassium, de calcium et de silicate d'aluminium, se rapprochant de 3Al6Si10O32 · 12H2O. Les membres de la série sont phillipsite-K, phillipsite-Na et phillipsite-Ca. Les cristaux sont monocliniques, mais seuls les jumeaux cruciformes complexes sont connus, ce qui équivaut exactement à des jumeaux d'harmotome qui forment également une série avec phillipsite-Ca. Cependant, les cristaux de phillipsite sont généralement plus petits et plus transparents et plus vitreux que ceux d'harmotome. Les groupes sphériques avec une structure radialement fibreuse et hérissés de cristaux à la surface ne sont pas rares. La dureté Mohs est 4.5 et la densité spécifique est 2.2. L'espèce a été établie par A. Lévy en 1825 et a été nommée après William Phillips. Les auteurs français utilisent le nom Christianite, donné par A. Des Cloizeaux en 1847. Phillipsite est un minéral d'origine secondaire et se produit avec d'autres zeolites dans les cavités amygdaloïdales des roches volcaniques mafiques: par exemple dans le basalte des Giants Causeway dans le comté d'Antrim , Et près de Melbourne à Victoria; Et à Lencitite près de Rome.
