Practolol
Practolol est un bloqueur bêta sélectif qui a été utilisé dans le traitement d'urgence des arythmies cardiaques. Practolol n'est plus utilisé car il est très toxique malgré la similitude de sa formule chimique avec le propranolol. Après son introduction, la kératoconjonctivite sicca, les cicatrices conjonctivales, la fibrose, la métaplasie et le rétrécissement se sont développés chez 27 patients comme réaction indésirable contre le practolol. L'éruption cutanée, l'ulcération nasale et muqueuse, la péritonite fibreuse ou plastique, la pleurésie, les dommages cochléaires et l'otite sèche sécrétoire ont également eu lieu dans certains cas. Trois patients ont souffert d'une perte visuelle profonde, bien que la plupart de la bonne vision conservée. Les symptômes et les signes ont amélioré le retrait du médicament, mais la réduction de la sécrétion larvaire a persisté chez la plupart des patients.
