Un pub / pʌb /, une maison formellement publique, est un établissement de consommation fondamental pour la culture de la Grande-Bretagne, l'Irlande, l'Australie, le Canada, la Nouvelle-Angleterre, le métro Détroit, l'Afrique du Sud et la Nouvelle-Zélande. Dans de nombreux endroits, surtout dans les villages, un pub peut être le point focal de la communauté. Les écrits de Samuel Pepys décrivent le pub comme le cœur de l'Angleterre. L'histoire des pubs remonte à des tavernes romaines, à travers la brasserie anglo-saxonne au développement du système moderne de maisons liées au 19ème siècle. Historiquement, les pubs ont été socialement et culturellement distincts des cafés, bars, bierkellers et brewpubs. La plupart des pubs offrent une gamme de bières, de vins, de spiritueux et de boissons gazeuses. De nombreux pubs sont contrôlés par des brasseries, de sorte que la bière au baril ou à la barbe peut être une meilleure valeur que les vins et spiritueux.
