Exclusion sociale
L'exclusion sociale est un désavantage social et une relégation à la marge de la société. C'est un terme largement utilisé au Royaume-Uni et en Europe, et a été utilisé pour la première fois en France. Il est utilisé dans toutes les disciplines, y compris l'éducation, la sociologie, la psychologie, la politique et l'économie. L'exclusion sociale est le processus dans lequel les individus ou des communautés entières sont systématiquement bloqués contre les droits, les opportunités et les ressources qui sont normalement disponibles pour les membres de la société et qui sont essentiels à l'intégration sociale. L'aliénation ou la privation de droits qui en résulte est souvent liée à la classe sociale d'une personne, au statut d'éducation, aux relations dans l'enfance et au niveau de vie. Elle s'applique également à des degrés divers aux personnes handicapées, aux minorités, aux membres de la communauté LGBT, aux personnes âgées et aux jeunes. Quiconque s'écarte de manière perçue de la norme d'une population peut devenir sujet à des formes grossières ou subtiles d'exclusion sociale. Le résultat de l'exclusion sociale est que les individus ou les communautés touchés sont empêchés de participer pleinement à la vie économique, sociale et politique de la société dans laquelle ils vivent.
