Le glyphosate (N- (phosphonométhyl) glycine) est un herbicide systémique à large spectre utilisé pour tuer les mauvaises herbes, en particulier les mauvaises herbes à feuilles larges annuelles et les graminées connues pour concurrencer les cultures commerciales cultivées dans le monde entier. Il a été découvert pour être un herbicide par John E. Franz, chimiste de Monsanto, en 1970.
