Un clone virtuel humain ou numérique est la création ou la recréation d'un être humain dans l'image et la voix en utilisant des images et du son générés par ordinateur, qui sont souvent indiscernables de l'acteur réel. Cette idée a d'abord été décrite dans le film de 1981 Looker, dans lequel les modèles avaient leur corps numérisé numériquement pour créer des images générées par ordinateur 3D des modèles, puis animer les images pour les publicités télévisées.
