L'énergie des marées, également appelée énergie des marées, est une forme d'énergie hydroélectrique qui convertit l'énergie des marées en formes d'énergie utiles, principalement l'électricité. Bien que n'étant pas encore largement utilisé, la puissance des marées peut générer de l'électricité future. Les marées sont plus prévisibles que l'énergie éolienne et l'énergie solaire. Cependant, de nombreux développements et améliorations technologiques récents, à la fois dans le domaine de la conception et de la technologie des turbines, indiquent que la disponibilité totale de l'énergie marémotrice peut être beaucoup plus élevée que prévu précédemment et que les coûts économiques et environnementaux peuvent être ramenés à des niveaux compétitifs. Historiquement, les moulins à marée ont été utilisés à la fois en Europe et sur la côte atlantique de l'Amérique du Nord. L'eau entrante était contenue dans de grands étangs de stockage et, à mesure que la marée s'éteignait, elle a transformé les roues hydrauliques qui utilisaient la puissance mécanique produite pour broyer les grains. Les premiers événements datent du moyen âge, voire de l'époque romaine.
