Paleolithique supérieur
Le paléolithique supérieur est la troisième et dernière subdivision du Paléolithique ou du Vieux âge de pierre tel qu'il est compris en Europe, en Afrique et en Asie. Très largement, il date entre 50 000 et 10 000 ans, coïncidant approximativement avec l'apparence de la modernité comportementale et avant l'avènement de l'agriculture. Les termes «âge de la pierre tardive» et «paléolithique supérieur» se rapportent aux mêmes périodes. Pour des raisons historiques, «l'âge de la pierre tardive» se réfère habituellement à la période en Afrique, alors que le «paléolithique supérieur» est généralement utilisé lorsqu'il s'agit de la période en Europe.
