Traitement de texte
Un traitement de texte est un périphérique électronique ou une application informatique qui, selon les instructions de l'utilisateur, effectue le traitement de texte: la composition, l'édition, le formatage et parfois l'impression de toute sorte de matériel écrit. Le traitement de texte peut également se référer à des techniques de sténographie avancées, parfois utilisées dans des contextes spécialisés avec une machine à écrire spécialement modifiée. Le terme a été inventé au Laboratoire d'Allemagne de l'Ouest de Böblingen d'IBM dans les années 1960. Les fonctionnalités typiques d'un traitement de texte incluent l'application de police, la vérification orthographique, la vérification de grammaire, un thésaurus intégré, la correction automatique de texte, l'intégration Web et l'exportation de HTML, entre autres. Dans sa forme la plus simple, un traitement de texte est peu plus qu'une grande machine à écrire coûteuse qui facilite les erreurs de correction. Le traitement de texte est apparu comme une machine de bureau autonome dans les années 1970 et 1980, combinant les fonctions d'entrée de texte et d'impression de clavier d'une machine à écrire électrique avec un processeur informatique dédié pour l'édition de texte.
