Il est utilisé pour la culture de bactéries à faible croissance dans la gélose au sang comme hémophile, gonocoque, bactérie méningococcique . 초콜릿한천 혈액한천을 가열하여 혈액을 갈색으로 해서 굳힌 배지. 혈액중의 세균발육저지물질(특히 자연항체을 변성시켜 불활화하기 위하여 가열한다. 헤모필루스, 임균(淋菌), 수막염균(髓膜炎菌) 등, 혈액한천에서는 발육이 좋지 않은 균의 배양에 사용한다.
