Gechazi - une figure biblique de l'Ancien Testament, serviteur du prophète Elisée. Pour la première fois, elle apparaît dans une histoire sur une femme avec Shun. Quand Elisée s'est demandé comment rembourser l'hospitalière Shunemite, Gehazi a mentionné qu'elle était sans enfants. Le prophète lui a dit qu'on lui donnerait son fils. Un an plus tard, elle a donné naissance à un bébé qui est mort après une courte période de temps. Shunemitka est alors allé voir le prophète pour demander de l'aide, mais Gehazi a essayé de l'expulser. Le Prophète lui a ordonné d'aller à la maison de la femme et de guérir le garçon en plaçant sa canne sur son front. Le domestique revint cependant, déclarant que ses actions avaient échoué. Alors Élisée lui-même a ressuscité le garçon. La réapparition de Gehazi apparaît après qu'il a été guéri par Élisée de la lèpre du commandant araméen Naaman. Quand le Prophète a rejeté les cadeaux qu'il lui avait donnés, Guéhazi a suivi Naaman et a menti que son maître avait changé d'avis, et alors il a pris lui-même l'argent et les deux robes. Quand Elisée lui a demandé de dire qu'il n'était nulle part, le prophète a puni le faux serviteur et sa progéniture, leur envoyant la lèpre.

Kobieta rok później urodziła dziecko, które po niedługim okresie czasu zmarło. Szunemitka udała się wówczas do proroka, prosząc o pomoc, Gechazi próbował ją jednak przepędzić. Prorok rozkazał mu udać się do domu kobiety i uzdrowić chłopca poprzez położenie swojej laski na jego czole. Sługa wrócił jednak oświadczając, iż jego działania okazały się bezskuteczne. Wtedy Elizeusz sam wskrzesił chłopca. Ponownie postać Gechaziego pojawia się po wyleczeniu przez Elizeusza z trądu aramejskiego dowódcy Naamana. Gdy prorok odrzucił ofiarowane mu w podzięce dary, Gechazi podążył za Naamanem i skłamał, że jego pan zmienił zdanie, po czym sam przyjął talent srebra i dwie szaty. Gdy zapytany przez Elizeusza odparł, że nigdzie nie był, prorok ukarał fałszywego sługę i jego potomstwo, zsyłając na nich trąd.
