१. एक प्रकार का धार्मिक कृत्य जो किसी
विशिष्ट कार्य की अशुभ बातों का नाश करके शुभ की स्थापना के विचार से किया जाता है । उ०—पढ़न लगे स्वस्त्ययन ब्रह्म-
ऋषि गाइ उठीं सब नारी । लैनरनाथ अंक रघुनाथहि रंगनाथ
संभारी ।—रघुराज (शब्द०) । २. शुभ, कल्याश, समृद्धि
आदि की प्राप्ति का साधन (को०) । ३. दान स्वीकार करने के
अनंतर ब्राह्मण द्वारा स्वस्तिकथन (को०) । ४. मांगलिक कृत्य
में आगे आगे ले जाया जानेवाला जलपूर्ण कलश (को०) ।
