chelár (chelári), s. m. – Majordom, intendent, persoană care deținea cheile cămării unei gospodării boierești.
Gr. ϰελλάριος (Murnu), în parte prin intermediul
sl. kelarĭ. La origine este
lat. cellarium (
cf. it. cellaio, fr. cellier), care, prin intermediul
ngr. ϰελλάρι(ον), a dat și
chelar, s. n. (cămară, depozit de provizii),
cf. celar. Cuvîntul
