Anaximander era un filosofo greco pre-socratico che vive a Mileto, città di Ionia; Milet in Turchia moderna. Apparteneva alla scuola Milesiana e apprese gli insegnamenti del suo maestro Thales. Seguì Thales e divenne il secondo maestro di quella scuola dove contò Anaximenes e probabilmente Pitagora tra i suoi allievi. Poco della sua vita e del suo lavoro è noto oggi. Secondo i documenti storici disponibili, è il primo filosofo noto per aver scritto i suoi studi, anche se rimane solo un frammento del suo lavoro.
