Nella morfologia vegetale, una cataphyll è una foglia la cui funzione primaria è diversa dalla fotosintesi. Le cataphylls sono fotosintetiche al massimo trivialmente o temporaneamente e invece di fotosintesi le funzioni principali della maggior parte dei tipi sono lo stoccaggio, la protezione o il supporto strutturale. Molte forme di cataphyli muoiono nell'esecuzione della loro funzione.
