CHE SIGNIFICA COMMON SWIFT IN INGLESE
Comune veloce
Il rapido comune è un uccello di medie dimensioni, superficialmente simile alla rondine del granaio o alla casa martin ma un po 'più grande. Tuttavia, non è assolutamente correlata a quelle specie di passeri, in quanto gli swift sono in ordine separato Apodiformes. Le somiglianze tra i gruppi sono dovute all'evoluzione convergente che riflette stili di vita simili. I parenti più vicini di Swifts sono considerati come i colibrì del Nuovo Mondo e gli alberi a vento dell'Asia sudorientale. Il loro nome scientifico deriva dalle parole antiche greche α "senza" e πούς, "piedi". Ἄπους, apous, che significa "senza piedi". Questi uccelli hanno zampe molto corte che utilizzano solo per aggrapparsi a superfici verticali. Non si sistemano volontariamente sul terreno, dove sarebbero vulnerabili agli incidenti e alle predazioni.
