Desorption

Il desorbimento è un fenomeno in cui una sostanza viene liberata da o attraverso una superficie. Il processo è l'opposto della sorpazione. Ciò si verifica in un sistema che è nello stato di equilibrio di sorpazione tra fase di massa e una superficie adsorbente. Quando la concentrazione di sostanza nella fase di massa viene abbassata, alcune sostanze sorbitate cambiano nello stato di massa. Nella chimica, in particolare nella cromatografia, il desorbimento è la capacità di una sostanza chimica di muoversi con la fase mobile. Più un desorbido chimico, meno probabile che si assorbirà, quindi invece di attaccarsi alla fase stazionaria, la sostanza chimica si sposta con il frontale del solvente. Nei processi di separazione chimica, lo stripping è anche indicato come desorbimento, in quanto una componente di un flusso di liquidi si muove attraverso il trasferimento di massa in una fase di vapore attraverso l'interfaccia di vapore liquido. Dopo l'adsorbimento, la sostanza adsorbita rimarrà sul substrato quasi indefinitamente, a condizione che la temperatura rimanga bassa. Tuttavia, mentre aumenta la temperatura, così avviene la probabilità di desorbimento.

Desorption is a phenomenon whereby a substance is released from or through a surface. The process is the opposite of sorption. This occurs in a system being in the state of sorption equilibrium between bulk phase and an adsorbing surface. When the concentration of substance in the bulk phase is lowered, some of the sorbed substance changes to the bulk state. In chemistry, especially chromatography, desorption is the ability for a chemical to move with the mobile phase. The more a chemical desorbs, the less likely it will adsorb, thus instead of sticking to the stationary phase, the chemical moves up with the solvent front. In chemical separation processes, stripping is also referred to as desorption as one component of a liquid stream moves by mass transfer into a vapor phase through the liquid-vapor interface. After adsorption, the adsorbed chemical will remain on the substrate nearly indefinitely, provided the temperature remains low. However,as the temperature rises, so does the likelihood of desorption occurring.
