Acido dithionoso
L'acido ditorio è un ossido di zolfo con la formula chimica H2S2O4. È instabile in forma pura, ma i suoi sali, conosciuti come ditioniti, sono stabili. Si è inizialmente ritenuto che la struttura simmetrica C2 HOS-SOH sia la più stabile tra le molecole con la formula H 2S 2O 4 usando calcoli ab initio. La ragione di questo è l'esistenza di legami idrogeno intermolecolari. Ora è noto che l'acido ditorio si decompone spontaneamente a SO2 e S2. Il ditorionite di sodio è una polvere bianca utilizzata come riduttante e un agente sbiancante. Viene usato anche per ridurre il gruppo nitro a un gruppo di amino nelle reazioni organiche.
