L'eccedenza o il tempo supplementare è un ulteriore periodo di gioco specificato nelle regole di uno sport per portare un gioco alla decisione e evitare di dichiarare la partita un pareggio o disegnare dove i punteggi sono uguali. Se il concorso rimane legato dopo la sessione aggiuntiva, in base alle regole, la partita può terminare immediatamente come un pareggio, possono essere riprodotti altri periodi o una procedura di tie-break, ad esempio un tiro di rigore.
