Il transito guidato automatico è un sistema di transito completamente automatizzato, senza driver, separato dal grado in cui i veicoli vengono guidati automaticamente lungo un "percorso". I veicoli sono spesso stanchi di gomma, ma sono stati utilizzati anche altri sistemi, tra cui ruote in acciaio, cuscini d'aria e sistemi di maglev. La guida fornisce normalmente sia supporto fisico, come una strada, sia la guida.
