Un idato è un tipo di tessuto secretivo nelle foglie, di solito in Angiospermi, che secerne l'acqua attraverso i pori nell'epidermide o sul margine di foglie, tipicamente alla punta di un dente marginale o di serration. Gli idodati si trovano principalmente nelle piante acquatiche e in alcune piante erbacee che crescono in luoghi umidi. Probabilmente si sono evoluti da stomata modificata e sono collegati al sistema vascolare della pianta da un fascio vascolare. Gli idadodi sono comunemente osservati in lattuga d'acqua, giacinto d'acqua, rosa, balsamo e molte altre specie. Gli idadodi sono fatti di un gruppo di cellule viventi con numerosi spazi intercellulari pieni d'acqua, ma pochi o nessun cloroplasti, e rappresentano dei fasci modificati. Queste cellule si aprono in una o più camere sub-epidermiche. Questi, a loro volta, comunicano con l'esterno attraverso uno stoma d'acqua aperta o un poro aperto. Lo stoma d'acqua assomiglia strutturalmente a uno stoma ordinario, ma di solito è più grande e ha perso la forza del movimento. Gli idodati sono coinvolti nel processo di guttazione, in cui la pressione positiva di xilema provoca liquidi da esaurire dai pori.
