Nomade
Un nomade, è un membro di una comunità di persone che vivono da un luogo all'altro. Tra i vari modi in cui Nomads si riferisce al loro ambiente, si può distinguere il cacciatore-raccoglitore, il nomade pastorale che possiede il bestiame, o il nomade "peripatetico" moderno. A partire dal 1995, si sono registrati circa 30-40 milioni di nomadi nel mondo. La caccia e la raccolta nomadi, seguendo piante e selvaggina selvatici disponibili, è di gran lunga il più antico metodo di sussistenza umana. I pastoristi alzano le mandrie, guidandoli o muovendosi con loro, in modelli che normalmente evitano di esaurire i pascoli oltre la loro capacità di recuperare. Il nomadismo è anche uno stile di vita adattato alle regioni infertili come steppa, tundra o ghiaccio e sabbia, dove la mobilità è la strategia più efficace per sfruttare risorse scarse. A volte anche come "nomadi" sono le varie popolazioni itineranti che si muovono in zone densamente popolate che non vivono sulle risorse naturali, ma offrendo servizi alla popolazione residente. Questi gruppi sono conosciuti come "nomadi peripatetici".
