İzmit è una città in Turchia, centro amministrativo della Provincia di Kocaeli e il Comune Metropolitano. È al golfo di İzmit nel Mar di Marmara, a circa 100 km a est di Istanbul, nella parte nord-occidentale dell'Anatolia. Il centro della città ha una popolazione di 300.611 abitanti.
