Lungometraggio è un termine utilizzato principalmente nei Parchi Nazionali inglesi e utilizzato originariamente nel Parco Nazionale di Peak District. Si riferisce a una persona che mantiene una "lunghezza" di strada pulita e ordinata. Questa persona era responsabile per qualche chilometro di strada. Impiegato dal consiglio parrocchiale locale, il suo compito era quello di mantenere l'erba e le erbacce tagliate ai margini della strada e il fosso di drenaggio chiaro. Saranno raccolti letti e fiori selvatici. Più di recente, i lunghissimi sono ancora impiegati dai consigli parrocchiali. I loro compiti ora sono quello di tendere ad aree delle parti "comuni" centrali del villaggio come i verdi villaggi, il drenaggio nei campi e le aree pubbliche. Il termine è stato applicato anche ai lavoratori del sistema dei canali, responsabili di una particolare lunghezza del canale. Molti abitavano in cottage isolati, talvolta vicini a una serratura, nel qual caso i loro compiti includerebbero la funzione di serratura e gestire i livelli d'acqua dal controllo delle dighe. Essi furono anche responsabili della riparazione e manutenzione delle banche nella loro "lunghezza", che potrebbero includere tagli di canne e vegetazione, e la macerazione di argilla di pozzanghera in sezioni della banca debole o afflitta.
