Masuria
Masuria (polacco: Mazury (aiuto · info); tedesco: Masuren) è una regione naturale della Polonia nordorientale famosa per i suoi 2.000 laghi. Geograficamente, la Masuria fa parte di due distretti adiacenti del Lakeland, il Distretto dei Laghi Masuriani (polacco: Pojezierze Mazurskie) e il distretto dei laghi di Iława (polacco: Pojezierze Iławskie). Amministrativamente, appartiene al Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship (polacco: województwo warmińsko-mazurskie). Il paesaggio della regione è stato formato dall'ultima era glaciale intorno ai 14.000 - 15.000 anni fa nel Pleistocene. Il terreno è perlopiù collinare, con i laghi, i fiumi e gli agglomerati. Le foreste rappresentano circa il 30% dell'area. La parte settentrionale della Masuria è coperta principalmente dalla foresta lombata, mentre la parte meridionale è dominata da foreste di pini e misti. L'economia della regione si basa in gran parte sull'ecoturismo e sull'agricoltura. I laghi per i quali la regione è meglio conosciuta offrono varietà di sport acquatici, attività ricreative e di vacanza.
