I molluschi oi molluschi / mɒləsks / compongono il grande phylum degli animali invertebrati noti come la Mollusca. Sono riconosciute circa 85.000 specie esistenti di molluschi. I molluschi sono il più grande pollo marino, che comprende circa il 23% di tutti gli organismi marini nominati. Numerosi molluschi vivono anche negli habitat di acqua dolce e terrestre. Sono molto diverse, non solo in dimensioni e in struttura anatomica, ma anche nel comportamento e nell'habitat. Il phylum è tipicamente diviso in 9 o 10 classi tassonomiche, di cui due sono completamente estinte. I molluschi di cefalopodi, come il calamaro, la seppia e il polipo, sono tra i più avanzati neurologici di tutti gli invertebrati - e il calamaro gigante o il calamaro colossale è la più grande specie invertebrata conosciuta. I gasteropodi sono di gran lunga i molluschi più numerosi in termini di specie classificate e rappresentano l'80% del totale. Lo studio scientifico dei molluschi è chiamato malacologia. Le tre caratteristiche più universali che definiscono i molluschi moderni sono un mantello con una cavità significativa utilizzata per la respirazione e l'escrezione, la presenza di una radula e la struttura del sistema nervoso.
