I Filistei erano un popolo descritto nella Bibbia ebraica, dicendo di aver governato i cinque stati della città di Gaza, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Ekron e Gath, da Wadi Gaza a sud fino al fiume Yarqon nel nord, ma senza confini fissi verso est. La Bibbia li ritrae come tra i nemici più pericolosi del Regno di Israele.
