Physitheism
Physitheism è l'attribuzione di una forma fisica e gli attributi di divinità, una pratica associata con gli antichi greci e, in misura minore, i romani. Nella moderna teologia ebraica e cristiana, il dio abrahamico è considerato uno spirito trascendente senza parti del corpo. Tuttavia, una traccia di physitheism è evidente in certi passaggi della Bibbia ebraica, come Esodo 33:23, dove Dio dice a Mosè: "E io toglierà la mia mano, e tu vedi le mie parti posteriori: ma la mia faccia non si può vedere ". Dio è anche descritto in modo simile ad una persona fisica in Genesi 3: 8, "E udirono la voce del Signore Dio che passeggiava nel giardino alla brezza del giorno: e Adam e sua moglie si nascosero dalla presenza di L'Eterno Iddio tra gli alberi del giardino ". Tali versi apparentemente fidesite sono una questione di controversia; i primi seguaci di gnosticismo loro considerato la prova che il dio giudaico-cristiana era in realtà un demiurgo imperfetta, del tutto separato dal più alto, Dio trascendente.
