Sauropoda / sɔːrɒpɵdə /, o sauropods / sɔrəpɒd /, sono un infraorder di dinosauri saurischiani. Avevano lunghi collo, code lunghe, teste piccole e spesse gambe simili a colonna. Sono notevoli per le enormi dimensioni raggiunte da alcune specie e il gruppo comprende i più grandi animali che hanno mai vissuto sulla terra. I generi noti includono Brachiosaurus, Diplodocus e Apatosaurus. I Sauropods apparvero per la prima volta nel periodo tardo-triassico, dove somigliavano in qualche modo al prosauropoda. Dal tardo Jurassico, i sauropodi erano diventati diffusi. Dal tardo cretaceo, quei gruppi erano stati principalmente sostituiti dai titanosauri, che avevano una distribuzione quasi globale. Tuttavia, come con tutti gli altri dinosauri non aviari, i titanosauri sono usciti nell'evento di estinzione del Cretaceo-Paleogeno.
