La speciazione
La speciazione è il processo evolutivo con cui nascono nuove specie biologiche. Il biologo Orator F. Cook sembra essere stato il primo a coniugare il termine "speciation" per la suddivisione di linee o "cladogenesis", a differenza di "anagenesis" o "evolution phyletic" che si verificano all'interno di lineage. Se la deriva genetica è un piccolo o importante contributore alla speciation è oggetto di discussioni molto in corso. Esistono quattro modalità geografiche di speciazione in natura, in base alla misura in cui le popolazioni speciizzanti sono isolate l'una dall'altra: allopatriche, peripatriche, parapatriche e simpatiche.
