Una teca si riferisce a qualsiasi caso, rivestimento o guaina. Nella botanica, la teca di un angiosperma è costituita da un paio di microsporangi che sono adiacenti l'uno all'altro e condividono un'area comune di dehiscenza chiamata stomium. Qualsiasi parte di una microsporofilla che porta microsporangia è chiamata antero. Molti antere si formano sull'apice di un filamento. Un antero e il suo filamento formano insieme uno stame tipico, parte dell'organo floreale maschile. L'antero tipico è biloculare, cioè costituito da due tecae. Ogni teca contiene due microsporangi, noti anche come sacchi pollinici. Le microsporangie producono i microspori, che per le piante di seme sono noti come grani pollinici. Se i sacchetti di polline non sono adiacenti o se si aprono separatamente, non si formano teca. In Lauraceae, ad esempio, i sacchi pollinici sono distanziati e aperti in modo indipendente. Il tessuto tra i loculi e le cellule è chiamato il connettivo e il parenchima. Entrambi i sacchetti di polline sono separati dallo stomium. Quando l'antero sta dehiscendo, si apre allo stomium. Le cellule esterne del theca formano l'epidermide. Sotto l'epidermide, le cellule somatiche formano il tapetum.
