CHE SIGNIFICA TYPHOID FEVER IN INGLESE

La febbre tifoide - nota anche come tifo - è una comune malattia batterica mondiale trasmessa dall'ingestione di cibo o acqua contaminata dalle feci di una persona infetta, che contengono il batterio Salmonella enterica enterica, serovar Typhi. La malattia ha ricevuto vari nomi, come febbre gastrica, febbre enterica, tifo addominale, febbre remittante infantile, febbre lenta, febbre nervosa e febbre pyogenica. Il nome tifo significa "somigliante al tifo" e deriva dai sintomi neuropsichiatrici comuni a tifo e tifo. Nonostante questa somiglianza dei loro nomi, la febbre tifoide e il tifo sono distinte malattie e sono causate da diverse specie di batteri.
