La vignettatura
Nella fotografia e nell'ottica, la vignettatura è una riduzione della luminosità o della saturazione dell'immagine alla periferia rispetto al centro dell'immagine. La parola vignetta, dalla stessa radice della vite, si riferiva originariamente ad un bordo decorativo in un libro. Più tardi, la parola è stata utilizzata per un ritratto fotografico che è chiaro al centro e si svanisce ai bordi. Un effetto simile si verifica quando si riprendono immagini o filmati proiettati da uno schermo di proiezione. Il cosiddetto effetto "hotspot" così definito definisce un look cinematografico a basso costo in cui non viene utilizzata alcuna telecina corretta. Il vignettatura è spesso un effetto non desiderato e indesiderato causato dalle impostazioni della fotocamera o dalle limitazioni delle lenti. Tuttavia, talvolta viene introdotto con deliberatamente per effetto creativo, come per attirare l'attenzione sul centro della cornice. Un fotografo può deliberatamente scegliere una lente conosciuta per produrre vignettatura per ottenere l'effetto, oppure può essere introdotta con l'utilizzo di filtri speciali o di procedure post-elaborazione. Quando si utilizzano lenti superzoom, la vignettatura può verificarsi lungo tutto il range di zoom, a seconda dell'apertura e della lunghezza focale. Tuttavia, potrebbe non essere sempre visibile, se non nella parte più ampia.
