[3] La malattia può essere difficile da distinguere da altre malattie, soprattutto nelle fasi iniziali [2]. Per confermare un caso sospetto si richiede la prova del campione di sangue con PCR. [4] Un vaccino sicuro ed efficace contro la febbre gialla esiste e alcuni paesi richiedono vaccinazioni per i viaggiatori.
