'평가 절하'는 고정 환율 제도 내에서 국가 통화의 가치를 공식적으로 낮추는 것을 의미하며, 통화 당국은 외국 기준 통화에 대해 새로운 고정 금리를 공식적으로 설정합니다. 반대로 감가 상각은 정부 나 중앙 은행의 정책 조치가 아닌 시장 세력으로 인한 통화 가치의 하락을 설명하는 데 사용됩니다. 두 번째 시스템 하에서 중앙 은행은 보통 외화를 사고 파는 것에 의해 금리를 위 또는 아래로 유지하지만, 항상 그렇지는 않습니다. 평가 절하의 반대는 재평가라고합니다. 감가 상각과 평가 절하는 때로는 잘못 사용되는 경우가 있지만 항상 다른 통화로 환산 한 값을 참조합니다. 반면 인플레이션은 재화와 용역의 통화 가치를 가리킨다. 환율을 낮추지 않고 통화의 액면가를 변경하는 것은 평가 절하가 아니라 재평가입니다.
