그것은 이미지의 머리 뒤 또는 그 주변에 배치되거나 그려지는 발광 원에 대한 후광 (nimbus)이라고합니다. ▪ 이마 또는 머리 꼭대기를 둘러싼 경우를 아우라라고합니다. ▪ 동등한 팔을 가진 십자가가 원에 새겨 져 있다면, 신성한 사람에게만 속하는 십자화 후방이라고 부릅니다. ▪ 후광이 삼각형 모양 인 경우, 이는 삼위의 후광이라고 부르며 이는 아버지의 인격에게 독특한 것입니다. 후광은 이집트인, 그리스인, 로마인이 신과 황제의 이미지로 권력과 위대함의 상징으로 사용되었습니다. 어떤 사람들은 4 세기까지는 기독교 아이콘학에서 사용되지 않았다고 주장하고 심지어 다양한 영재와 인격화에 무관심하게 적용했다. 그러나 기독교 신상은 카타콤에있는 이미지에서 발견됩니다. 그리스도인들은 이미 신들과 황제들에게 빛나는 상징으로 둘러싸인 로마인들의 관습을 모방했습니다. 7 세기부터 모든 성도들에게 일반화되었지만 아이보리와 모자이크의 일부 코데소의 미니어처에서 볼 수있는 바와 같이 12 세기까지는 다른 성격들에 대해서도 여전히 보존되었다.

El nimbo fue empleado por los egipcios, griegos y romanos en imágenes de dioses y emperadores como símbolo de poder y grandeza. Algunos sostienen que no estuvo en uso en la iconología cristiana hasta el siglo IV y aun entonces se aplicaba indiferentemente a las variadas efigies y personificaciones. Sin embargo, el nimbo cristiano se encuentra en imágenes ubicadas en las catacumbas. Los cristianos imitaban ya la costumbre de los romanos, que rodeaban con un símbolo luminoso a los dioses y emperadores. Desde el siglo VII, se generaliza a todos los santos pero aún se conserva para otros personajes hasta el siglo XII según se aprecia en miniaturas de algunos códices en marfiles y mosaicos.
