इक्विवियोकेसला अनौपचारिक तार्किक भूल म्हणून वर्गीकृत केले आहे. हा शब्द एकापेक्षा अधिक अर्थ किंवा अर्थाने भुलथणारा वापर आहे. हे सहसा शब्दसमूहांच्या शब्दांशी उद्भवते अनेकदा amphiboly सह गोंधळून आहे; फरक म्हणजे एखाद्या शब्दाची संदिग्ध परिभाषा पासून समीकरणे उद्भवते, तर amphiboly विरामचिन्ह किंवा वाक्यरचनामुळे अस्पष्ट वाक्य रचना संदर्भित करते.
