टॉर्पोर हे प्राण्यामध्ये कमी झालेले शारीरिक क्रियाकलापांची स्थिती आहे, सहसा शरीराचे कमी तापमान आणि चयापचय दराने. टॉरर प्राणी कमी अन्न उपलब्धता पूर्णविराम कालावधी जगू देते टॉर्पोर डू नॉट ऑफ हायरबर्नेटर कमी शरीर तापमान, चिरकालिक दिवस ते आठवडे खर्च करते किंवा "रोजच्या दिवसात" कमी शरीराचे तापमान आणि चयापचय कालावधी 24 तासांपेक्षा कमी काळ टिकू शकतो. जनावरे ज्यात दररोज झोपेत असतात ते पक्षी आणि काही स्तनपायी असतात, ज्यात मासपियाल प्रजाती आणि उंदीर व चमचम्यासारख्या कृंतक प्राण्यांचा समावेश आहे. त्यांच्या दिवसाच्या सक्रिय भाग दरम्यान, अशा प्राणी सामान्य शरीराचे तापमान आणि क्रियाकलाप पातळी राखतात, परंतु ऊर्जा जतन करण्यासाठी दिवसाच्या काही भागा दरम्यान त्यांच्या चयापचय दर आणि शरीराचे तापमान कमी होते. उष्ण तापमानाच्या काळात ते जनावरांना जिवंत ठेवण्यात मदत करतात, कारण सामान्यतः उच्च शरीराचे तापमान राखण्यासाठी वापरण्यात येणारी उर्जा बचत करण्यास त्यांना परवानगी मिळते.
